Uitzicht vanaf Edinburgh Castle op Princes Street en New Town

Edinburgh, sinds de 15e eeuw de hoofdstad van Schotland, is een verrassend mooie stad. De stad is op 7 heuvels gebouwd en door de hoogteverschillen heb je bijna overal in het centrum prachtige panorama's. Vooral de rots met Edinburgh Castle valt op en het kasteel is gelijk de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheid. Van het kasteel loopt de Royal Mile richting Holyrood Palace, waar je na een beklimming van Arthur's Seat een prachtig uitzicht over de stad hebt. Aan het einde van een wandelreis naar Schotland in juni 2017 bezocht ik Edinburgh voor het eerst. Op dat moment hadden we maar beperkt de tijd en dus ging ik eind juli 2017 voor drie dagen terug naar deze mooie stad.
